three sheets of standard copy paper
10 x 3 1/2 x 3 1/2"
3(8 ½ x 11) examines the standard copy paper. It is an object of surface and intended to be clean and smooth until used. If it is damaged, it is considered useless. I opted to retain the paper’s purity while completely altering its integrity. By meticulously piecing apart each sheet, I have emphasized objecthood. One sheet was cut into sixteenth of an inch squares; one was sliced into hair-like strands; and one was picked apart into tiny particles. Though useless by customary standards, these mounds now reflect new purpose. They demonstrate dramatic shifts in character through fastidious handling.
